re: everything, all of the time.
So I left last week's missive up all week. I get like that
sometimes. Also, I got your email, and I'll be replying as soon as I have more than a few minutes
at home, busy weekend. And I thought it would be all uneventful and everything...
requiem for a dream
I caught Requiem for a Dream on Saturday
night, at the Laemmle 4 Monica in lovely downtown Santa Monica. Stacey (Santa Monica native and
local history guide) tells me, as we're walking down the promenade toward the theater, that it was
once called the Pussycat theatre and showed X-rated films. Now it's an art house, and, apparently,
according to some of the posters and articles on the walls, is showing movies that aren't that much
different from before, except now it's art, not exploitation. In art films, the sex isn't about sex,
you see? At least, in the better films, it's not.
Now, don't get me wrong, I like art films as much, if not more, than the next guy. And Requiem for a
Dream is definitely a brilliant film. It's not the feel-good movie of the Autumn season, and it's
one of my favorite movies this year thus far. I don't know why I'm rambling so, I'm not making sense
here right now.
re: post meridian and iron society
I just read through the first couple pages of Iron Society
a few minutes ago. Now, I'm trying to decide whether I want to get rid of those links up there at
the top of the page, because they're not that good at all. While reading it, I thought to myself,
what was I thinking?, and where the heck was I going with this? I didn't take it anywhere.
Well, in trying to decide whether to keep them on the site, I want your vote:
Email it to me, and I'll do what you say....

not a club or a hobby.
