understood her whetstone like a jeweler, examining 
cleavage and imperfections with 
monocle or magnifying glass.

in secret and consigned to memory 
with high-school photographs 
and souvenir key chains. 

Miranda spoke often of her exploits, 
with procedural detail of digital clock instructions, 
acts for which previous generations 
might have burned her at the stake 
or made her a high priestess.
